Product Concepts

Either delivering concepts for possible products to meet market needs or providing concepts where the product function is better known, we create architectures for single products or systems of devices that work together.
Not just aesthetically pleasing, these concepts are well thought out and backed up by assessments of technology risk, development effort, manufacturing cost models and timescales.
Our concepts are well integrated combinations of all the technologies required to create a winning product.

Feasibility and Analysis

Some products require the use of technologies or techniques that are less well established and so carry greater risk for the product development programme. We identify these and ways that any risks can be mitigated.
This can involve detailed desk-based research as well as hands on, in-the-lab testing to get real results that demonstrate that proposed mitigations really do produce the desired result.

Strategy

As part of wider considerations we can advise on what technologies are looking promising for your market needs in the short term, what kind of products they might enable and what the real technology limitations are.
These studies and reports are also likely to include a definition of possible products and low risk, cost-effective programmes to develop these in a well-managed fashion.

Once the products are defined, concepts and system architectures agreed, then we deliver solid, well integrated circuit designs.
These are well integrated with the other elements of the design and lead directly to professional PCB designs.

Circuit Design

A major part of any electronic product, we develop reliable software and firmware.
Our expertise is centred on a deep understanding of embedded firmware and the manner in which it interacts with hardware.
Developments are appropriate to the need: light touch development of prototype code through to heavyweight quality control for high-reliability products.
We also work with partners to deliver integrated mobile and desktop applications as part of an overall product development.

Software Design

All electronic products depend on the housings they are mounted in.
A good understanding of the limitations of mechanical components and how to get the best out of them is essential. They can have an important effect on CE compliance performance as well as on the ergonomics of product use.
Different technology choices affect the demands on mechanical components and a good understanding of both is essential to delivering a properly integrated solution.

Mechanical Design

Once all the design is done, rapid prototyping is essential to confirm that the product performs as intended. We have excellent links to professional providers of precision components: circuit boards, mechanical parts, 3D printed components and PCB assembly services.
We manage the complete process and update design information as necessary.

Prototyping

Integrated with the prototyping activity is an in-depth understanding of regulatory certification requirements (CE, FCC etc), our years of experience ensure the minimum number of surprises when the product reaches the test house.
In parallel with regulatory compliance, we will agree, plan and execute a full validation test plan tp validate that the design complies with requirements agreed at the outset.
